The Essential DeMill

What is 'The Essential DeMill'?

This is the place where you get to enter into the writings of Colin Young, his novels, stories, poetry, and so much more.

Why do I write? I enjoy it... and if it is not for you, then it is for me.

Who do I write for? Maybe for a dream of being an author that makes people think, that entertains people and provides escapism; because we all know we need escapism.

Where does it all lead? Creating little universes that exists in a literature macrocosm, that should hopefully sit for there until the end of time, or until some burns all the books in the world (or destroys all the hard drives)!

The first novel: The Province of All Mankind

"A last man on earth story"

Set in the future where a world event has wiped out all of humanity, a lone man strives to understand why it has all happened, how the world has changed and even if he is the last human on earth.

The Province of All Mankind is the first book in a trilogy, and the first trilogy of a series of stories that are dubbed 'The Plight Series'.

A World to explore...

Venture into The Essential DeMill

The Essential DeMill is an organisation I dreamed up when I was a teenager, I had always wanted to have a company which provided a platform upon which to present my stories, and this website is that vehicle.

The world has always been a source of inspiration in which to set my stories, and there are common themes in my stories which reflect places and countries I have either been to or lived in.

The background image is not a stock image but a photo I took on the 5th of May 2011 at approximately 5.30 in the morning. It was taken in Dangriga, Belize, looking east over the Caribbean Sea.
