The concept of a last man on earth, or last people on earth, had been rolling around in my head for years. When I was young I remember watching a movie called 'Night of the Comet' which was a post apocalyptic tale of a handful of survivors from a comet passing close to the earth, killing most of the humans and infecting the others.
The Province of All Mankind (POAM), follows a man called Harris, who thinks he is the last person on earth. One of the reasons that makes him believe that is because he has lived for three hundred years post the mass extinction event. In those 300 years he hadn't come across any other human life, that was until some visitors from outer space arrive.

I wanted the POAM story to be different to post-apocalyptic tales, I wanted it to be optimistic, beautiful, amazing, and so, it became a trilogy, and as Harris found more people alive, a community forms. Of course, with communities, come issues, and navigating those issues.
POAM: The Two Queens is a tale of adaptation to a new earth, to new people, to new discoveries about themselves and the new world around them, it's a tale of conflict, balance and love.

POAM: Yours is the Earth completes the trilogy, where the story spans generations and we see how the growing community adapts to life with growing numbers, new additions and new goals.
Other inspirations for the POAM trilogy were 'Y The Last Man' comic book series, 'The Last Man' by Mary Shelley and probably 'The Mysterious Island' by Jules Verne. This third book in the series brings to light the birth of a new civilisation and seeks to set up a new earth.
